CBUAE's new SME customer-protection rules take effect. The Central Bank of the UAE's SME Customer Protection Regulation (Circular No. 2/2026), issued in February 2026, came into force 13 September, replacing the 2021 SME Market Conduct Regulation. It binds all CBUAE-licensed banks and finance companies serving SME customers, adding requirements on account opening, disclosure, fees, responsible financing, complaints handling and support during financial difficulty.
