Market signal

An in-line CPI print whipsaws bitcoin from under $77,000 to a test of $80,000. Bitcoin opened Friday below $77,000 and dipped toward $76,500 ahead of the 8:30am ET release, then reversed hard on the August CPI data — up 0.4% on the month and 3.4% year-on-year, matching forecasts after Thursday's hot PPI print — spiking more than 3% to briefly test $79,800. Ether outpaced it, surging over 6.5% in under an hour to a multi-month high of $2,663. More than $732m in leveraged positions were liquidated in the whipsaw, and the 30-year Treasury yield pushed to a fresh 22-year high before settling near 5.309%, extending Thursday's PPI-driven surge. Spot ether ETFs slipped back into the red too, off $29.76m on the same day after Wednesday's brief inflow. CryptoTimes (Farside/SoSoValue data) · Farside Investors

Anchorage Digital widens its institutional-custody footprint on two fronts. The federally chartered crypto bank added support for Robinhood Chain on September 9, letting institutions custody tokenized equities, debt and other RWAs issued on the L2, then said on September 11 it is opening institutional access to Frgmnt's fUSD and sfUSD stablecoins, letting clients hold, mint, stake and redeem them directly inside Anchorage's existing custody environment. Policy & regulation

No material US or international regulatory action in the last 24 hours. The Clarity Act's September 15 Senate cloture vote is now four days out, and with Republicans' 53 seats still short of the 60 needed, the outcome hinges on Democratic votes against the same unresolved disputes — ethics provisions, DeFi-developer liability and a stablecoin-yield carve-out — that have stalled the bill for months. The Chatter

QCP Capital (Telegram, Sep 11): argues the post-CPI bounce doesn't change the macro setup — a competing ~5% risk-free Treasury yield without an accompanying growth story is "the worst mix for Bitcoin," and the desk says BTC likely needs Treasury buybacks to add fresh liquidity before it can build real momentum again. Cryptonomist, via QCP Capital

The Kobeissi Letter (X, Sep 11): lays out all the data now in hand before the September 16 Fed decision — August PPI at 5.4%, payrolls at +162,000, CPI at 3.4%, oil above $100 and diesel at record highs, inflation running some 140 basis points above target — and calls the coming week "highly eventful." X

Brian Armstrong, Coinbase CEO (CNBC/X, Sep 10): argues bitcoin's cycle low is already behind it, tying the call to mounting stress in sovereign-debt markets pushing capital toward scarce, non-sovereign assets, and repeats $400,000 by 2030 as what he calls a "reasonable" long-range target — his own view, not the Corner's.
